Betfair Casino Gone Rogue?

December 8th, 2010

These are the kind of posts I hate to make as I have always done my best to promote casinos that are honest and safe for players to play at.  Unfortunately one of the casinos listed on our site does not appear to be playing by the rules and this is extremely shocking considering this activity is coming from a publically traded company.

Several weeks ago Betfair Casino ran a promotion where they offered players unlimited reload bonuses with only a 10x playthrough requirement.  Here is a copy of the original marketing material:

This promotion unfortunately for the players and Betfair themselves did not go as planned.  Betfair shortly after realized that they were losing a lot of money from this promotion and many players that were winning reported that Betfair started to lock accounts, remove bonuses, and seize funds.  There is even one example of a player who claims that they were paid out approximately 32,000 Euros, only to have this money stolen from his bank account by Betfair a few days later.  Many players have started to come forward and have been submitting their issues via CasinoMeister’s Pitch A Bitch system, but according to the people at CasinoMeister Betfair has been giving the same blanket response:

Thank you for your email which came via CasinoMeister.

I appreciate you may have seen a similar version of the email below, however I have included the details of how to contact the LGA who we are regulated by should you wish to take your complaint further.

On the weekend of the 13/14th November Betfair ran a promotion for its casino product. It subsequently came to our attention that certain customers exploited the spirit of this promotion. The accounts of all customers that took part have been reviewed by Betfair, and corrective action has been taken where appropriate for those who acted in contravention of our terms and conditions. Betfair has corresponded directly with all customers who were affected by this. If any customer would like to discuss the matter further, they may contact the LGA in Malta by e-mailing complaints@lga.org.mt or telephoning +356 21316590.

Kind Regards

Richard

Due to the lack of response from Betfair, CasinoMeister has now placed Betfair on their ROGUE list as of this evening.

It is still unclear what Betfair means by players exploited the bonus which is what requires clarification.  They seem to be hiding behind stating that players did not honour the spirit of the bonus, which is complete garbage.  Anything that they claim the player is violating in the spirit of the bonus should be covered in detail within the Terms and Conditions of the bonus itself.  As far as we can tell so far, it seems that the Betfair customers played by the rules put forth by Betfair themselves which can be viewed here:

I have posted this information on several industry forums requesting for an immediate response from Betfair regarding this situation and will give them 72 hours to provide a reasonable response or show that they are working to resolve this issue.  If no response is received we will remove Betfair from appearing on BestCasinosOnline.org.

If you have been affected by this, please post your story in the comments below.

Regards,

Graham
