Ladbrokes Hates Waffles and Chocolate

October 21st, 2010

Ladbrokes strangely announced that they will no longer be accepting registrations for people in Belgium today.  In a letter to affiliates, Ladbrokes gave no reason why they are pulling out of Belgium, so we have to assume it has to do with the impeding gambling law legislation that is set to go in effect on January 1st, 2011.  The law is designed to set up a gambling licensing type system, similar to Italy and France.  Though it has been debated whether or not the law to be introduced complies with EU law (as there are some stipulations on companies that can receive licenses), many lobbyist groups are set up to argue this new legislation citing the ruling in the Austrian Engelmann case.

In the meantime if players from Belgium are looking for a new place to play, then check out one of our best online casinos page.

For those interested, here is the letter that went out to affiliates of Ladbrokes:

Dear Partner,

Ladbrokes no longer accepts registrations from customers residing in Belgium.  We will keep you updated of any changes to this policy.

Please get in touch if you have any questions.

Kind Regards

Ladbrokes Affiliate team
